What it is

A work made through the word. When the Dabucurí Cinético collective formed, we built the piece to send it to the COP through the OPIAC, on one condition: to carry that knowledge to more places without giving a hollow account of what the communities were doing.

The idea was for people to see the fire dance in 360. To have a record, and to preserve the nature of the communities’ knowledge.

Process

Two sessions in Tabio, of palabreo and listening, to understand the situation of the territory before deciding anything. Out of that came the story —“The Spear of Fire”: preserving and caring for the living memory of the Amazonian world against forgetting— and after that came building the world. The material includes audiovisual footage, process photos and night-time sound recordings.

The photos from October 23, 2021 are of the space where it was recorded. I did not record the trip or the presentation: the communities were the ones who carried it there.
